Head coach Neider Dos Santos and Montego Bay United Football Club (MBU) have parted company.

In an interview with STAR Sports yesterday Dos Santos said the club's management told him last Thursday that they were going forward without him.

"I really don't know the reason, I was just informed by management of the club that they have other plans for the coaching staff and I am not included in that," Dos Santos said.

The move to seek a replacement for Dos Santos was announced on the team's social media page yesterday with a brief farewell message.

"We want to advise that head coach Neider Dos Santos will not be returning to MBU for the 2024-2025 season. We are grateful for his dedication and contribution to the team over the years. We will announce his replacement shortly."

When STAR Sports reached out to chairman of MBU Yoni Epstein and the club's president Dr Germaine Spencer both declined to comment on the matter.

"No comment at the moment. We will update when we are ready to announce the new coach," Epstein said.

"I choose not to comment. You will be updated in due course and will be briefed accordingly. We will be having a press conference," Spencer said.

According to the former head coach Dos Santos, the season ended well.

"I think we had a good season taking into consideration the circumstances we had. The second round was very good and if I am not mistaken it was the second-best points among the 14 teams. Only Mount Pleasant were ahead of us. We didn't qualify for (the playoffs) by a very close margin because of goal difference," Dos Santos said.

Dos Santos was the MBU coach for seasons 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2022-2023 (second round) and 2023-2024 for a full season.

MBU went on a five-game winning streak and went 10 matches unbeaten in the second half of the just concluded season.

In January, seven players joined MBU for the second round of the Jamaica Premier League.

Jamaican players Owayne 'Turtle' Gordon, Jourdain Fletcher, Courtney Allen and Daniel Reid were among the new recruits. Gordon, like Fletcher, had played for MBU before. The international players recruited were Gregson President - St Lucia; Josiah Trimmingham and Darnelll Hospedales - Trinidad and Tobago.

Dos Santos wished the club all the best for the future.

"It is a club and city that I love so I am here with all support for them to do well," he said.
