Portmore man gets 17 years for stoning uncle to death
Portmore resident Herron Douglas, who was found guilty of fatally stoning his uncle during a family dispute, was sentenced to 17 years and five months in the St Catherine Circuit Court today.
The deceased has been identified as Verol Douglas.
Herron Douglas was found guilty by a jury on March 6, in the St Catherine Circuit Court.
The Crown led evidence that in 2010, Douglas was involved in a family dispute in Reeds Pen, Braeton, St Catherine, during which he hurled stones that struck his uncle, Verol, in the head.
Verol Douglas was assisted to hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries he sustained.
An investigation was launched by the Portmore police, which led to the arrest and charging of Herron Douglas for murder.
The presiding judge was Justice Dale Palmer.
