July 22, 2025

A police constable has been charged with the murder of assistant teacher D'Jonnay Graham, following a domestic dispute that ended in a fatal shooting and attempted suicide on June 25 in Richmond, St Mary.

Patrick Walters, 22, was charged on Monday, after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) ruled that he be charged with murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Reports indicate that around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, the two were having an argument at Graham's residence in Richmond, St Mary, when Walters allegedly shot her.

The lawmen were summoned and upon their arrival, both individuals were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were taken to the hospital, where Graham was pronounced dead and Walters hospitalised.

On Thursday a file was subsequently submitted to the DPP, who gave instructions for Walters to be charged.

He was released from hospital in police custody and later formally charged.

The incident has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations and the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau as investigations continue.
