Man fatally shot during police operation in Linstead

The police have yet to identify a man who was fatally shot after he allegedly challenged a team near Linstead in St Catherine yesterday.
Reports are that about 6:30 a.m., cops conducted an operation along Jack Stephenson street in Deeside.
Upon approach of a premises the man allegedly armed with a handgun challenged the party, which took evasive action and and fired hitting him.
He was assisted to the Linstead Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The lawmen reportedly seized an illegal gun affixed with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition from the deceased.
The Independent Commission of Investigation is probing the matter.
