Tomorrow's staging of the 45th Gibson McCook Relays will see a new format as the event, which will have finals only, will start at 1 p.m. and end at 5:05 p.m., giving the meet a Diamond League look.

With no preliminary round and a one-race situation, some fast times are expected.

At the last staging in 2020, Kingston College with five wins out of 11 and Edwin Allen with four from eight were the dominant teams.

The Star has been following the various meets so far and made a prediction of the top-three finishers in selected events.

GIRLS

Class 1 4x100m

A record is in the making as Edwin Allen High's quartet of Serena Cole, Tia and Tina Clayton and Brandy Hall look set to record the fastest relay time ever by a high school team, and in the process, break their own record of 43.62 seconds, which was done at the Penn Relays.

After cruising to a record 44.31 seconds record run at Western Relays, Edwin Allen should easily take out the meet record of 44.43 set by St Jago in 2014. Second is up for grabs between, St Jago, Hydel and St Catherine High.

Top 3:- 1. Edwin Allen (R), 2. Hydel, 3. St. Catherine High

Class 2 4x100m

No stopping Hydel as the quartet led by Kerrica Hill, Alana Reid and Alliah Baker should win on a canter, as they aim to become the second female team to go sub-44 seconds. Edwin Allen's record of 43.74 seconds is safe.

Top 3:- 1. Hydel, 2. Edwin Allen, 3.St Jago

Class 3 4x100m

A very close affair between Edwin Allen, St Jago and Hydel, with Shemonique Hazel and Jodyann Daley given the verdict here.

Top 3:- 1. Hydel, 2.Edwin Allen, 3. St. Jago

Class 4 4x100m

The fastest team in the event so far this season, Immaculate Conception, with 48.69 seconds, was not invited to the meet. This leaves the way open for another sub-49 seconds team, Edwin Allen with 48.90 seconds, with a clear path to go all the way.

Top 3:- 1. Edwin Allen, 2. St Jago, 3.Vere Technical

Open 4x200m

Hydel High's record of 1:33.82 seconds, set in 2017, should go as Edwin Allen, with the firepower of Tia and Tina Clayton, Brandy Hall and Serena Cole, look set for a sub 1:33. The record holders, Hydel, who have some quality half-lap athletes led by Brianna Lyston, is the only team that could challenge Edwin Allen, but strangely, they were not invited for this event.

Top 3:- 1 Edwin Allen (R), 2. St Jago, 3. St Catherine High

4x400m Open

Close affair expected as Edwin Allen aim to end their drought in this event.

Top 3:- 1. Hydel, 2. Edwin Allen, 3.Holmwood

With the likes of Jessica McLean, Monique Stewart, Rickeisha Simms and Rushana Dwyer, Edwin Allen will be taking dead aim at their 2018 record of 8:46.40, and they should win easily.

BOYS

Class 1 4x100m

Top 3:- 1. St Jago., 2. K.C., 3. JC

Class 2 4x100

Jamaica College are a cut above the rest as the team, led by Mark Anthony Miller and Dantae Watson, clocked a quick 41.68 seconds at the Camperdown Classics when winning, the only team in this age group to go sub-42 seconds so far this season.

Top 3:- 1. JC., 2. Calabar, 3. Wolmer's

Class 3 4x100m

Top 3:- 1. JC, 2. KC, 3. Xlcr

OPEN 4x800m

A titanic battle is expected between Kingston College and Jamaica College, as both teams are blessed with quality half-milers. This one will go down to the wire, but Jamaica College, following their 7:36.76 to upstage KC 7:38.64 at Western Relays, get the edge. They will be hoping to erase Calabar High's record of 7:29.04, which was set in 2019. With the likes of Kemarrio Bygrave, Jvoughan Blake, Handel Roban and Tyrone Lawson this is a possibility.
