Shopkeeper shot and killed in Red Hills, St Andrew
The St Andrew North police are investigating the murder of a shopkeeper who was shot and killed at Upper Stanmore Close in Red Hills early this morning.
The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Lamar Littleroy Lindo.
Reports are that around 1:30 a.m., Lindo was at his business place when he stepped outside to urinate in nearby bushes. He was approached by a gunman on foot, who reportedly shot him multiple times in the head, hand, and foot.
The assailant fled the scene on foot.
Lindo was rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment.
The Coopers Hill community has been left in shock by the killing.
The Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch is leading the investigation.
Despite this latest incident, murders in the St Andrew North Police Division have declined year to date.
As of July 12, there have been 19 homicides, compared to 33 during the same period in 2024, a 42 percent decrease.
