After helping Montego Bay United to two Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) titles midfield maestro Ronaldo Rodney has taken his qualities to Mount Pleasant and is hoping to repeat the success he had with Montego Bay at his new club.

Rodney, who is now in his prime at 27 years old, has been enjoying life at Mount Pleasant, where he is now a key part of that midfield. He is looking to get better and as he wants to help take the team to the pinnacle of local football.

After five seasons at Montego Bay, Rodney said it was time for a change and so far Mount Pleasant feels like home. "I needed a change. I won the title at Montego Bay and all that and I am grateful, but sometimes you just have to move on and I felt it was the right time to make the move," he said.

BEST MIDFIELDERS

"I like it here so far. The vibes are good and I feel that I am doing great. So far, I am putting in the work and the players and coaches like what I am doing, and the fans like what I am doing, so I just have to keep it up,' he continued.

Although he had been one of the best midfielders in the league during his time at MoBay, Rodney has never really gotten his due for his contribution to their success. But he is not too concerned by the lack of recognition.

"Sometimes it (performance) is recognised and sometimes it's not recognised, but it doesn't bother me," he commented.

Although Mount Pleasant's coaching staff has played down their chances of winning the title, Rodney believes they have a strong chance of taking the championship this season and said they are working to achieve that objective.

"We have the fans behind our backs, we have one of the best coaches and we have beaten all the big teams. We lost to a small team, but we will improve on that," he said.

The attacking midfielder remains one of the best off-the-ball movers in midfield, he brings others into play, makes excellent passes, and runs into the box and provides assists and goals. He has also set his personal targets for this season.

"I am really looking forward to the remainder of the season. I have given myself targets to score at least 10 goals and 15 assists, and I believe I am about 70 per cent right now. I am not a 100 per cent but I'm getting there," he said.
