Guyana nears cricket report decisions
Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) secretary, Annand Sanasie, says his organisation will shortly submit decisions it has made regarding the controversial CARICOM Cricket Governance Review Panel report regarding West Indies cricket.
The report, commissioned by the regional heads of government sub-committee, called for among other things, the resignation of the board of directors of the West Indies Cricket Board.
"Discussions were held with regard to the report, and decisions have been made," said Sanasie following a statutory monthly executive committee meeting of the GCB last week.
"However, we will not be making a public statement on the matter. The WICB has asked us to respond within a specific time line, and we intend to do that in writing in very short order."
The WICB, headed by Dave Cameron, it is understood, has asked the six regional territorial boards to submit responses to the report by December 4.
However, this was based on the WICB's position that it wanted to meet with the CARICOM Cricket Governance Committee either during or after the WICB's directors meeting scheduled for December 12.
The WICB, has subsequently reneged on that position, and has offered to meet with the Committee, headed by Grenada's prime minister, Dr Keith Mitchell, on December 4.
It is expected that the six territorial bodies will present their positions by early this week.
The other territorial boards are Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, the Leeward Islands, and the Windward Islands.
The Review Panel, in calling for the resignations, cited major weaknesses in the operations and structural management systems as one of the major reasons for the decline in West Indies performances.
