Famed Jamaican producer Tarik 'Rvssian' Johnston says he will be taking a break from social media as he mourns the sudden loss of his brother.

In a post on Instagram on Monday, Rvssian announced that his brother died unexpectedly the day before. He described this as a painful and tough time for him and his family.

"Yesterday, I found out that my brother suddenly passed away. It's been hard to process, and I'm still trying to come to terms with it," he wrote. "I may be quiet on social media for a while as I take time to deal with everything."

Despite his grief, he plans to move forward with completing his current project, Story Book Riddim, with the help of his team. He explained that the work had begun before the tragedy, and he feels a duty to see it through in honour of the artistes involved.

"Even though things are heavy right now, I will do my best to complete it -- out of respect for the artistes who gave their time and energy to be part of it."

The post received a lot of support from fans. Many, including media figures Debbie Bissoon and ZJ Sparks, sent their condolences.

Rvssian is widely respected for his contributions to dancehall, trap, and Latin music.

He closed his message with a word of gratitude, "Thank you for your love and support."
