Windies fined for slow over rate in fourth T20I
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts:
The West Indies cricket team has been penalised for maintaining a slow over rate during their fourth T20 International against Australia at Warner Park on Saturday.
The players have been fined 10 per cent of their match fees after falling two overs short of the required target, even after accounting for time allowances.
The sanction was imposed by match referee Reon King of the Emirates International Cricket Council (ICC) International Panel.
Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, players are docked five per cent of their match fee for each over their team fails to complete within the allotted time.
West Indies captain Shai Hope admitted the offence and accepted the penalty, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Gregory Brathwaite and Leslie Reifer, third umpire Zahid Bassarath, and fourth umpire Deighton Buttler.
