Cop charged with girlfriend’s murder
A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), Constable Patrick Walters, has been charged with the murder of his 20-year-old girlfriend, D'Jonnay Graham, in Essex District, Richmond, St Mary, on June 25.
Walters was charged on Monday following a probe by the Independent Commission of Investigations into the fatal shooting at Graham's home on June 25.
Reports are that about 9:15 p.m., Graham and Walters had a dispute during which Graham was shot.
The police were summoned and on their arrival both Graham and Walters were found with gunshot wounds. They were taken to the hospital, where Graham was pronounced dead and Walters hospitalised.
A file on the matter was prepared and submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a ruling. On July 17, the DPP ruled that Walters be charged with the offences of murder and using a firearm to commit a felony.
