Burger Man mourns brother’s murder

January 03, 2020

Wesley 'Burger Man' Burger said his slain brother, Radcliffe 'Crazy' Burger, was an integral part of the entertainment fabric in the inner cities of Kingston and St Andrew.

Crazy, 54, was shot dead on December 28 last year as he walked between East and Duke streets in downtown Kingston some time after 3 p.m. The police have not said if they have established a motive for his killing.

"He is like the ghetto man Main Event. Him go around and do the party dem inna the inner city dem. Him use the fabric and decorate, him do the lighting, all of these things. Him just mek a inner-city party look like a uptown event," Burger Man, a disc jock at RJR, said.

"We come from the community of Top Range in Mountain View. He is the first of four brothers and him have four kids. He died exactly one month before my birthday."

Burger Man said his absence is already having an impact on the party scene.

"A dem man deh hype up the party and vibes up the party. Him help everybody. Him go everywhere and promote party," he said

The 'Too Live Crew' co-host said that had Crazy not been killed, they would be planning his birthday slated for later this month.

"He was very instrumental in organising ... Him woulda just look after everything. The bar, igloo, ice, stage, everything! All me affi do a put on me clothes and come. A great void will be created in the dancehall arena. It's very unfortunate," Burger Man said.

"I just pray for peace. Enough is enough. I hope we can use his death as a sign to say that enough is enough and Jamaica needs a drastic change in the area of conflict resolution and crime and violence. This is a perfect example of what is called senseless killing. Crazy nuh trouble nobody! Crazy and nobody nuh ina nothing! He's not a gunman, he's not a thief, and he's not a rapist!" he added.
