‘I am very grateful’ - Manchester mom’s back-to-school burden lifted
Even though Kerene Smith-White lost her husband and house five months ago, she is breathing a sigh of relief as the back-to-school burden that she was dreading has been lifted.
The Spring Grove, Manchester, native told CENTRAL STAR that two of her children are already taken care of for 'September morning' and it is something she did not anticipate.
"A just two a them me did a focus pan right now. Mi get the big one in HEART and the 15-year-old a go fourth form, and the five-year-old still a go basic school. Mi cya explain how me feel right now because mi know seh if a even the first week a school, dem good," she said.
Back in April, Smith-White informed this news team that she lost her husband to dengue, and a month later, she lost her house to fire.
The elated mother of five said things have not been easy, but she is grateful to everyone who has learnt of her dilemma and are doing what they can to help her.
"A yesterday somebody call me and asked me about back to school enuh, and me so happy because the only thing I have to focus on now is getting uniform for the older one, because the baby uniform is quite new. Everything else come off me head, so I am very grateful," she said.
"Mi get writing books, crayons, pens and pencils for them, bags, folders, folder leaves and so forth. I'm so grateful. Dah burden deh no deh deh, because it lift off. Mi nuh have nothing a worry 'bout, nothing. Mi just leave everything in the hands of God right now," she said.
