Brittney Gregory and Oshane McLean have been together for almost a year.

The time may be short in some person's eyes, but the couple has embarked on a journey of starting a charity organisation aimed at helping children's homes and infirmaries across the island.

Gregory, who is the owner of Triple B's Extensions in MoBay, said she was having a conversation one day with her co-workers and she decided to start giving back.

"I was just telling some of my co-workers one day that we should get some stuff and donate to the homes. I told my spouse about my plans and he came on board," she said.

McLean owns McLean's Baby Designs, also located in MoBay.

"Everyone from both companies donate what they could," she said.

Initial plan

Their first stop was at the St Ann Infirmary. Gregory said that even though she lives and operates her business from the 'tourist city', she decided to stop in St Ann first because that is the place she is used to.

She told THE STAR that a couple of years ago, she used to deliver various items to them and she saw that the institution was in need.

Her initial plan was to visit one children's home or infirmary every two months but she said that her charity, which is yet to be named, is doing well because people are coming on board.

"This charity is very new so we don't have a name for it as yet. I don't know what to name it. When we went to the St Ann Infirmary, the children were so happy and the people there were so grateful. We want to make this bigger and better so I reached out to other businesses to help the cause and some small businesses have come on board while others have made pledges. Because of this, we are going to make our next stop at the West Haven Children's Home in St James," she said.

Gregory, who is not familiar with the various children's homes across the island, said she reached out to the Child Protection and Family Services Agency to get some help on which homes and or infirmaries are in need the most.

She said that she would like some big companies to come on board as well and give back to the homes that need it most.

"I want this to bigger and better. We started on the 11th of July in St Ann and we want to go to other homes. I believe that with more people, more things can be done. I want to move from a car load of stuff to a truck load of stuff," she said.

"Some children's homes don't get recognition and those are the ones that we are seeking to help most," she continued.
