Clarendon cops follow strong leads in teacher’s murder
Head of the Clarendon police, Senior Superintendent Vendolyn Cameron Powell, says the lawmen are following strong leads in the murder investigation of 47-year-old teacher Samuel Martin.
However, Cameron-Powell told The CENTRAL STAR that no arrests have been made.
“We have not reached the stage where we have arrested the persons yet, but we’re going very good,” she said.
She said that the police are working overtime to ensure the perpetrators are arrested.
“The investigation in progress. Sometimes it takes a little while for us to reach the desired outcome. Nevertheless, we are at it, and it hasn’t been a closed case. It’s a very active case,” she said.
Martin’s decomposing body was found in bushes in Juno Crescent in May Pen, Clarendon, on April 25, after he was reported missing for almost a week.
His hands and feet were bound, and his body was covered in gasolene.
At the time, Cameron Powell told reporters that investigators theorised that the substance was used by the attackers to mask the smell of the decomposing body.
Martin’s funeral will be held on Saturday, June 29, at the Webster United Church at 57 Half-Way Tree Road, St Andrew.
