Cerine Rage declares war on ‘Beater Man’
Up-and-coming dancehall artiste Cerine Rage is using her voice to advocate for victims of domestic violence, calling for greater support and tougher penalties for those who harm women.
The singjay says she feels compelled to speak up on behalf of women who often suffer in silence.
"I see myself as the voice for the voiceless. I want to be an agent of change as it relates to domestic violence, because di man dem a kill off too much a we and it nuh mek nuh sense we continue to choose to be victims. As women, we have to stand together and say no to domestic abuse. Even if we are not directly affected by domestic abuse, it is a real issue in our society today and one that must be approached with urgency," stated Cerine Rage.
Hailing from St Thomas, Cerine Rage recently dropped a powerful single titled Beater Man, a track that takes a bold stand against domestic violence, while reminding women of their inner strength. She describes the song as a budding anthem for female empowerment.
" Beater Man is a statement, not just a song. Abuse comes in many forms, but culturally, we often only denounce physical and sexual abuse, but emotional abuse and other forms of abuse are just as bad. This song is to remind women that being independent and strong makes it easier to walk away from abusive situations," stated Cerine Rage.
With a solid background in music, Cerine Rage has worked with top-tier dancehall producers like DJ Frass, DJ Sunshine, and the late Arif Cooper. She first gained attention for her provocative tracks like Mad House and Butterfly, but is now channelling her energy into promoting Beater Man.
