RR Wnzdz celebrates second anniversary
The vibrant heart of Kingston pulsed even louder as RR Wnzdz, the electrifying weekly club series, celebrated its second anniversary in style at Ribbiz Ultra Lounge recently.
Known for fusing dancehall energy with a unique club culture vibe, the event drew an enthusiastic crowd of young music lovers, and creatives for a historic night to remember. The celebration featured dynamic sets from top-tier selectors Carlos A-Team, DJ Vinchi, and DJ Breeze, who kept the dance floor alive deep into the night with a seamless blend of dancehall, hip hop, afrobeats, and global club sounds that had patrons singing along, word for word. Sticking true to the theme, 'Dress your Style with Silver Accessories', patrons were fashionably dressed with their accessories sparkling throughout the venue.
The night was not to be uneventful, as the RR Wnzdz team introduced a brief 'Syfr', its version of a cypher, with a high-energy performance by rising local talents J'mill, Wikidis and Gio Mar. This segment showcased raw lyrical fire and artistry that reminded patrons why RR Wnzdz remains a hub for Jamaica's underground and emerging talents. Sandre Malcolm, promoter of RR Wnzdz, expressed his glee at the success of the event over the past two years.
"We started RR Wnzdz to create a space that felt fresh, real, and reflective of our culture," said Malcolm. "Two years later, it's amazing to see how far we've come, and with Red Bull on board, things are only getting bigger."
Red Bull joined forces with the RR Wnzdz team to officially launch the Red Bull Dance Your Style competition with a male vs female dance battle, which raised the energy inside the already charged venue. The female dancers were crowned winners of the night by a unanimous vote from the patrons. Set to take place on August 23, the global street dance battle series will give local dancers the opportunity to shine on an international stage, bringing even more excitement and energy to Kingston's dance scene.
