Girlfriend wants me to get baptised again
Dear Pastor,
I am 24 years old and I am a Christian. I have found myself in love with a young woman who is of a different faith.
This young lady and I have been in love with each other and we would love to get married, but her pastor told her that I am not a true Christian and he would not do our wedding. So he said that she should break up with me.
I was baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and he told her that I was not baptised in the real and true way. So, I would have to get baptised again. I told her that I don't need to get baptised again, but she is pressuring me to do so. I have visited her church, but I can't stand that man, especially since she told me that he wants us to break up.
One Sunday when I went there, they had an altar call and my girlfriend left from where she was sitting and was encouraging me to go forward to the altar. But I would not move. They were calling on people to get rebaptised. I know I was baptised the correct way, but her church doesn't believe that anybody who was baptised in the name of the Trinity is truly baptised.
I love my girlfriend. I want our relationship to last, but I am not getting baptised again. She told me that if I love her, I would do what is right.
N.P.
Dear N.P.,
There are so many churches that insist that their way is the right way, however, the only true way to eternal life is Jesus Christ himself.
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me." Not even baptism will save a person. Your girlfriend's church believes that although you were baptised, that baptism did not count, and they want you to be baptised in Jesus' name. Don't allow them to confuse you. You don't have to be baptised again. So if your girlfriend insists that you must be do do to please her, you should be able to give her up.
I don't need to say any more.
Pastor
