Champs St Catherine, Gaynstead, Norman Manley remain perfect
Defending champions St Catherine, Norman Manley and Gaynstead High stayed perfect going into tomorrow's final set of matches of the second round, after picking up wins in yesterday's ISSA urban schoolgirls Senior netball competition at the Leila Robinson courts.
The defending champions continued their rampant form in Group Two, as they demolished Campion 51-11 for their fourth straight win to be on eight points and top the standing.
In their final game of the round tomorrow, St Catherine will go against Norman Manley High, who are also unbeaten. The latter got their fourth straight win by beating Bridgeport High 29-17 to join St Catherine on eight points.
In Group One, Gaynstead remained supreme after defeating the previously unbeaten St Jago High in their top-of-the-table clash. The Dalton Hinds-coached Gaynstead, led by their national under-21 development players, goal attack Daniella Joseph and goalkeeper Crystal Nicholson, put away their rivals 42-26.
With eight points, Gaynstead look a cinch to win their final game and top the group as they will face winless St Andrew High, who were beaten 34-17 by Tarrant yesterday.
St Jago and Jose Marti will be in a battle royal for the group's runners-up spot and a place in the semifinals. Jose Marti stopped St Hugh's High 40-24 to join St Jago High on six points and joint second.
In the other Senior game played yesterday, Immaculate Conception High took care of Camperdown High 28-11.
Jose Marti, The Queen's School and Wolmer's Girls' School stayed unbeaten for tomorrow's final set of Junior matches.
Jose Marti stopped their St Catherine counterparts Jonathon Grant 29-17, Queen's turned back Norman Manley 25-8, and Wolmer's got by St Jago High 30-19.
In the other matches, St Hugh's defeated Immaculate Conception High 25-17, St Catherine High beat Campion 23-14, and Camperdown and Clan Carthy played to a 10-10 tie.
