St Catherine High School take a 2-0 lead in their return game of the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup round-of-16 encounter against Wolmer's Boys' School at Mico tomorrow at 3 p.m., and coach Anthony Patrick is confident that his St Johns Road-based charges will get a positive result and book their quarter-finals spot.

"It will be a home game for Wolmer's as they will be playing next door, but we are very confident that we will get over this hump and get a positive result and advance to the quarter-finals," said Patrick.

Patrick noted that St Catherine have struggled to get beyond this stage, where their sojourn in the Manning Cup has ended for several seasons, and they have to contest the less prestigious Walker Cup, which they won in 2019 and 2020.

Patrick is, however, undaunted by their recent history.

"The last time St Catherine High advanced to the quarter-finals stage was in 2017, with Malique Miller and Marcovich Brown spearheading, but this time, I am super confident we will move on.

"When we defeated Wolmer's at home last Saturday, we were not surprised as we scouted them out when they played against St Jago in the preliminary round in Spanish Town.

"We found out their weaknesses, and we exploited those areas as I did a lot of discussion and blackboard work with the boys," said Patrick, who argued that the margin of victory should have been more.

"I am still comfortable with our two-goal advantage as our opponents are behind and will have to throw in the kitchen towel, and once they do that, we will exploit them and shut them down," he said.

Patrick, who has won the Walker Cup, Manning Cup and Olivier Shield titles as coach of Bridgeport High School, is aiming big for St Catherine High this season.

"Some members now were members of the 2020 winning Walker Cup team and want more, so the motivation is to go further. The aim is to advance to the quarter-finals, then semi-finals, where we have a chance to vie for the Manning Cup and Champion of Champions titles," said Patrick.
