Sprinter Ashanti Moore and quarter-miler Rusheen McDonald are now on the official list of athletes in individual events to represent Jamaica at the Budapest World Championships, which begins next Saturday.

On Thursday, the official list of athletes from the respective countries was released by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), with both listed for the women's 200 and men's 400 metres.

At the recent press conference to release the team by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), Moore was not named among the 65 athletes selected, with McDonald only listed for the mixed relay.

At the time, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was listed to compete in the women's 200 metres despite saying publicly that she would not contest that event in Budapest.

According to the chairman of the selection committee, Lincoln Eatmon, Fraser-Pryce was listed because there was no official communication from her to the association that she would not be doing the event. Shashalee Forbes, who finished sixth at the National Senior and Junior Athletics Championships (Trials), was listed as an alternate.

Forbes will now concentrate on the 100 metres, where she was second at Trials as Moore has replaced her. Moore, who finished fourth in her semi-final at Trials, did not advance to the final.

However, Moore has qualified based on the entry list for Budapest as her best of 22.49 seconds, done in Texas in April, has her as the fourth fastest Jamaican. Moore will now join defending champion Shericka Jackson, Natalliah Whyte and Kevona Davis on the list for the half-lap event, with Fraser-Pryce out and Elaine Thompson-Herah not contesting the event at Trials.

At the press conference, the selection surrounding McDonald, the country's fastest quarter-miler in the one-lap event this season with 44.03 seconds, was one of the main topics from the media because of his non-selection for the individual 400 metres.

The reason proffered for his omission from the event was that he did not compete in the final at Trials, and Zandrion Barnes, who was seventh, had attained the Qualifying A mark with his season best of 44.90 seconds.

McDonald was also selected ahead of Jevaughn Powell, who was third but has not attained the Qualifying A standard.

While Moore will contest the women's 200 metres in Budapest, interest will surround the country's No. 1 and the world's No. 3 man's selection for the 400 metres. The decision will be made at a technical meeting on the eve of the Championships.
