STAR Gibson/McCook Relays top three selections
It will be a welcomed return to business at Gibson/McCook Relays, after a truncated staging last year, when only finals were contested over four hours. Tomorrow's staging at the National Stadium starting at 9 a.m. will be back to the full array of events, lasting 12 hours.
The organising committee will make this year's 50th-anniversary staging special by having a 60 metres race for both men and women with US$50,000 being shared among the eight finalists in each event. Each winner will pocket US$10,000 with the eighth-place finisher getting US$500.
Tomorrow's Gibson/McCook Relays will give an indicator of what is to come at this year's ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Championships, which is looking likely to go down to the wire in both the boys' and girls' categories.
STAR Sports has been following the progress of the teams at the various development meets so far and is predicting the top three finishers in selected events.
GIRLS
4X100 CLASS 1
A year ago, Edwin Allen High girls got the meet off to a sizzling start with a special moment after producing the fastest time ever at the meet with a record-breaking 43.37 seconds. With only Serena Cole back from that dream team, they will be under severe pressure to retain their title. The second-place finisher in the event last year, Hydel, look set to break their drought as they are favourites to go all the way and win their first title. At the Camperdown Classics, led by World Under-20 girls' 200 metres bronze medallists, Alana Reid Hydel raced to a record 44.59 seconds.
1. Hydel 2. Edwin Allen 3. Immaculate
4X100 CLASS II
Hydel look set to make it two from two after their leading time of 46.61 seconds win at the Camperdown Classics; however, Holmwood, winners at the Milo Western Relays with 47.01 seconds, cannot be written off while St Jago could spring an upset here after their B team ran 47.28 seconds at the Camperdown Classics as their A team was disqualified for false-starting.
1. Hydel 2. Holmwood 3. St. Jago
4X100 CLASS III
Led by Tiana Marshall and Natrice East, there will be no stopping Wolmer's Girls' School, the only team to have gone sub 47 seconds so far with their winning time of 46.95 seconds at Camperdown Classics.
1. Wolmer's 2. Hydel 3. Edwin Allen
4X100 CLASS IV
This one will be hard to call as any of five teams in Mt Alvernia, Holmwood, Edwin Allen, Hydel and Immaculate can win here. Mt Alvernia are leaders with their 49.03 seconds win at Milo Western Relays, while Hydel were impressive when easily winning in 49.18 seconds at Camperdown Classics.

BOYS
4X100M CLASS I

KC will be led by Bouwahjgie Nkrumie and Adrian Kerr, JC with Malique Band Smith and Christopher Scott and STETHS with Shamer Blake and Jasauna Dennis. Following their 40.80 seconds win in Trinidad a few weeks ago, KC will be full of confidence.

4X100M CLASS II
Led by Shaquane Gordon and Nickecoy Bramwell, following their time of 42.88 seconds at Camperdown Classics, where they did the leading time, Calabar look set to go all the way, despite expected good challenges from KC, St Jago and STETHS.
1. Calabar 2. KC 3. STETHS
4X100 CLASS III
Calabar with a leading time of 44.65 seconds are very strong and should pick up another win here, although both KC and JC with a season-best of 44.75 seconds will be coming to spoil their party.
1. Calabar 2. JC 3. KC
4X400M OPEN
After dominating this event over the years, KC suffered a rare defeat last year when St Jago High sprung a surprise. North Street-based KC, after an easy 3:14.36 minutes, in winning in Trinidad recently can go much faster but in their way, this time are a solid JC, following a swift 3:13.22 minutes clocking to win at the S W Isaac Invitational meet.
1. JC 2. KC 3. St Jago
4X800M OPEN
After last year's impressive record run in the event JC will be hoping to make it back-to-back wins, led by the in-form Kemarrio Bygrave with an impressive 1:50.90 seconds clocking at the Fervet Distance Carnival. He should get support from Tyrone Lawson and Khandale Frue. At Milo Western Relays, the solid KC quartet looked quite easy in winning in 7:49.92 minutes.
