Wilson expects big G.C. Foster showing
Principal and head coach Maurice Wilson expects the G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport to have a strong showing in the collegiate section of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania this week.
After dominating at the Intercollegiate Championships last month, Wilson thinks G.C. Foster can do likewise against its foreign counterparts this weekend.
"We at G.C. Foster College are happy that the Penn Relays are back after the pandemic, and I am very confident it will be a successful one for G.C. Foster College," Wilson told STAR Sports ahead of the team's departure yesterday.
"We will be competing only in the male section where we will have three teams - the 4x100m, 4x200m, and sprint medley relays, and I expect all three teams to be successful. Great things are expected from our 4x100 team after it ran 39.50 seconds at the Intercol meet without two of its regular members."
Wilson is also confident because of the work of his assistant coaches Lamar Richards, Jermaine Hamilton, and Janiel Smith to prepare the team.
They will make their debut in the preliminary round of the men's 4x100m against Clemson University, University of Houston, University of South Carolina, University of Arkansas, and home team University of Pennsylvania on Friday at 12:35 p.m. Jamaica time.
They will then compete in the heats of the men's 4x200 metres relay at 1:45 p.m. They will be hoping to pick up their first title at 4:30 p.m. when they contest the Championship of America Men's College Sprint Medley Relay final.
