Miller wants more from his batsmen
Jamaica Scorpions captain, Nikita Miller, has called on his batsmen to exercise 'better judgement' as the team seeks to address its batting failures in the 2016-2017 Digicel WICB Regional Four-day Championship.
The Scorpions, fifth in the six-team tournament, have so far passed the 200-run mark just once in four innings.
Only three batsmen - John Campbell, Jermaine Blackwood and Devon Thomas - have gone past 50.
"We need to be sensible about what we are doing. I don't think we are showing enough common sense in our batting,'' said Miller.
The Scorpions captain claimed five for 22 in the second innings to spearhead his team to a come-from-behind win over the Windward Islands Volcanoes on Monday. They lost to the Jaguars by 181 runs in their opening match.
"We have batsmen who are naturally aggressive but we are not finding the right blend in terms of attacking and defending.
"We need to find that combination very quickly or we will falter as the season progresses," Miller said.
The Jamaica Scorpions will next host the Barbados Pride on Friday and Miller wants to see some improvement.
"Barbados will be a tougher challenge, and our batters need to recognise this and do something about it,'' he added.
