MoBay United a model club
Montego Bay United director Lincoln Whyte is confident of the team's ability to be a winning football model, not just on the field of play but also financially.
MoBay are sitting atop the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) table with 33 points.
They won the league in 2013-2014 and finished runners-up in the last campaign. Whyte believes they can retake the title this campaign.
He said his players are motivated by a number of factors, from good pay to a professional club structure, and a football vision on and off the field.
"The fact that our players know that we are trying to have them getting these contracts overseas is a motivation," he said.
"We are not just about playing football and highlighting players, we want them to be having a better life. The difference with us is that in order for us to afford future players we want to have returns to develop and to mould talents We just don't want to say we are training, we would love to have investment in future youngsters."
Whyte stressed that should people from Kingston come to the club's base at WesPow Park, they would be impressed with what we are doing for football in Jamaica.
"Harbour View have been a model in terms of professionalism and management in Jamaica, but we are taking it to another level in terms of players being comfortable. Players being provided for and, even for this weekend, there are players who would not want to go home for Christmas.
"It creates a mindset that says to them, in order to be here, you have to be performing," he added.
The Montego Bay club has won three Premier League titles, two formerly as Seba United, 1987 and 1997. They changed their name to Montego Bay United in 2011.
