Santokie hoping to impress in Bangladesh
Seamer Krishmar Santokie is looking forward to playing in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 with a view of impressing the West Indies selectors once more.
Santokie, a catch for several Twenty20 franchise teams around the world, is set to represent newcomers Comilla Victorians.
The BPL, in its third season, is earmarked for November 22 to December 15.
"To have been drafted to be in the BPL once again is a really good feeling, and I am grateful," said Santokie.
This will be his second stint in the BPL.
"It's an opportunity to play some top-level cricket, and it's also an opportunity to show the West Indies selectors that I can still do the job."
The 30-year-old left-hander, who has taken 17 wickets for the West Indies in 10 matches at an outstanding bowling average of 13.71, last represented the regional side last August against touring Bangladesh.
Since then, he has missed the team's Twenty20 exploits in New Zealand last year, and the recent Twenty20 series against New Zealand.
"The goal is to make the team for the World T20 Championship in India next year, so every chance I get to work towards that is a plus," he said.
Santokie, who has been overlooked by the national selectors for the last three WICB/Nagico Insurance Super 50 campaigns, is also hoping to one-day play for Jamaica again.
"I believe I can help Jamaica win the regional Super 50. However, it's up the national selectors," he said.
"I have no major injuries at the moment, and I recently played in the local all-island limited-overs competition, so hopefully, that qualifies me to play."
