Melbourne appeals for roof renovation help
Melbourne Cricket club is appealing for assistance to help with the roofing renovation of its clubhouse.
The roof was damaged during the passage of Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
"We are in the final stages of making preparation for the replacement of the roof over our clubhouse that was blown off during Hurricane Ivan 11 years ago," the club stated in a media release.
"We invite all our members, well-wishers and many supporters to come on board, and support this very worthy project, no contribution is too large or too small," the release added.
The St Andrew club, which has over the years produced West Indies players such as Michael Holding, Courtney Walsh, and the Samuels brothers, Robert and Marlon, expressed gratitude at the support it has received for the project so far.
"We want to thank Mr Evan Reid of Alfrasure Structures and Roofing Ltd, and Mr Gary Shurland of Tankweld, for the significant roles they are playing in making this long-overdue project become a reality," the club.
reward initiative
the club outlined that, for awhile, the project will also have a reward initiative. Donors will be given commemorative plaques as a gesture of appreciation.
"We intend to erect, inside the newly completed area of the clubhouse, plaques for prosperity, boldly displaying the contributor (s) to this project," the club cited.
"We will have a Platinum plague for individuals/companies, who contribute $20,000 or more, a Gold plaque $10,000-$19,999, and a Silver plaque for below $10,000."
Donations or pledges to the project, which has a time frame for competition, November 28, can be made via the club's website , or, at the club.
