Former West Indies Under-19 and batsman, Brandon King is looking forward to this season as being his breakout year.

The 20-year-old, who made his first-class debut last season, made the revelation earlier this week prior to departing for Barbados with the Jamaica Scorpions.

Jamaica, looking to better their second-to-last position last season, are currently taking on the Barbados Pride at Kensington Oval in their first game of the season.

"The ultimate aim is to make it to the highest level," said King.

"I am, therefore, hoping that this season will be my breakthrough season, whereby I can get the attention of the selectors."

Regarded by many as one of the most promising batting talents in the country, King impressed on his debut with an attractive 72 at Sabina Park.

Thereafter, the attacking-minded batsman went on to amass 180 runs at an average of 25.71.

"I had a couple of games last season, so I have an idea of what the pressure is like at that level," he continued.

"If given the opportunity, I first want to play every match, and thereafter, look to score at least three centuries," he

concluded.

King, who netted a hundred in Jamaica's first trial match, but was hit in the ribs thereafter and suffered a dip in form, also spoke of his readiness for the Barbados clash.

"Barbados is always a tough team. I am just looking forward to going out there and do my best," he said.

"It (form) is coming on, and could have been a little better; but you have to take everything in stride.

"I feel I was just not getting a start, as most of the times I get a start, I carry on," he said, referring to the subsequent five trial matches.
