Seiveright vows to protect Pigeon Valley’s charm
Delano Seiveright, the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) standard-bearer for St Andrew North Central, has reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with residents of the Pigeon Valley/Hermitage Road area in Stony Hill to preserve the unique character and tranquillity of their neighbourhood.
The Pigeon Valley/Hermitage Road area, known for its lush greenery, quiet charm, and distinctive architecture, straddles the boundary between St Andrew North Central and St Andrew West Rural.
Seiveright emphasised the importance of maintaining the community's identity, safeguarding its residential integrity, and ensuring that development is pursued responsibly.
In recent years, residents of established neighbourhoods across the Corporate Area have expressed growing concern over the perceived unchecked rise of high-density apartment complexes - many of which, they argue, are built without adequate community consultation or regard for the existing character of their surroundings.
These developments, they say, have contributed to traffic congestion, stressed water and sewage systems, and the erosion of green spaces and privacy.
"These concerns are real and urgent," said Seiveright.
"We must strike a balance between growth and the preservation of what makes our communities special. Residents deserve to have a voice in what happens around them, and I intend to ensure their concerns are heard and acted upon," he said.
