Over the past several weeks, security personnel have been kept busy processing numerous crime scenes in the Area Four Police Division, which covers Kingston.

Among the latest victims are Angelita McPherson, 49, who was shot and killed by unknown assailants along Wild Street, and Harry 'Harry Dog' McLeod, who was killed on Darling Street, both on Sunday.

Reports from the Elletson Road police are that about 12:50 p.m., McPherson was walking along the roadway when she was pounced upon by three armed men who opened fire at her. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

One woman told THE STAR that McPherson previously lived on Water Lane but had fled because she was receiving threats, part of an ongoing war. But persons said she was not part of the conflict.

Her daughter had been shot

"Mi see her Sunday morning and give her $250 to buy a coconut for me and she buy it and come back," she said. The woman said shortly after McPherson returned, she heard that her daughter had been shot.

"She get mad and go dung a Water Lane and a down there dem kill har. Dem do har bad and she never deserve this at all. Her daughter is a nice girl who nuh give trouble and just always a keep her little party dem," she said.

West Kingston communities Tivoli Gardens and Denham Town are also tense following the killing of McLeod. Nicknamed 'Harry Dog', he was a reputed top lieutenant of former strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke. One Denham Town resident told THE STAR that persons have been living in fear even before McLeod's murder.

"No matter how the police say dem lock down the community, the man dem find way come in so it nuh make sense the police are here either," he said. A Tivoli Gardens resident said that since McLeod's killing, no one from her block had ventured out.

"Mi hear all mi door a knock this morning and mi not even budge because mi don't know is who. Mi not even go work and mi nuh sure if mi a go tomorrow. The entire building fraid, the man dem nah come out and mi can tell yuh say dem gun nuh deh far to defend themselves if the need arise," the resident said.
