Ghetto Goat’s manager says he is not using him
Johnny Wilson, the manager for Ghetto Goat, has sought to fend off suggestions that he may be exploiting the youngster in a bid to gain from his bush-eating and bleating stunts.
Wilson said that he has known Ghetto Goat, whose given name is Devin James, for years, and would not seek to exploit him.
"We use to play in the same church yard with his siblings. My dad and his dad are also close friends so I am not a stranger who just appear in his life and trying to seek something. I would never try to use it or use his style to catch any fame or use it as a medium to promote myself," he said.
Wilson stated that Ghetto Goat has been up to his comical antics for years but did not desire an interest in being videotaped until recently.
"I always encourage him and told him that he could go far with all the jokes he was giving by behaving like a goat. We always hang out at the car wash that he works and he is always making people laugh. When he saw how the video went viral, he got more comfortable and was motivated to make more," he said.
Wilson said that his only interest is to assist the comedian in reaching his full potential and rise above the naysayers who chastised him about his past brush with the law.
"There were people who were saying that he should be killed. They gave him a serious beating which caused him to lose one of his upper front teeth. At a point in time they wanted to cut his heel to prevent him from walking, saying that he was a thief and all of that. They even put a rope around his neck and say that they were going to hang him. It was really devastating for him. He went through a lot and I would never do anything that would cause him any more pain ... I want to see him reach his full potential because he deserved to," Wilson said.
Ghetto Goat's father, Charles, stated that he has no issues with his son branching off into a life of comedy, as long as he is comfortable with the character he is playing.
"As long as he is not participating in anything that will get him into problems, I am okay with it. He is a smart boy ... He is not mad or anything," Charles said.
