The eighth cohort of interns comprising 14 students in the Digicel Graduate Recruitment Programme (GRP) were tasked with developing and seeking funding for a social development project. The interns decided to raise funds to purchase much-needed items for the 39-year-old Kingston-based Best Care Children's Home, which caters to children with mental and physical challenges, many of whom are wards of the state.

The project was funded through a grant from the Digicel Foundation's Mek A Muckle Initiative, as well as a bake sale and donations of cash or kind from Digicel employees. Items delivered included canned foods, toiletries, fans and clothing. The home also has a school which was outfitted with dry-wall partitions, an industrial sewing machine, water cooler, mannequin heads, and a computer.
