Afraid to come back to Jamaica

June 19, 2025

Dear Pastor,

Happy belated Father's Day to you. I hope you had a wonderful day. I am writing you about living in Jamaica.

It is very scary and that is why I have ended up in the state of Florida. I bought a piece of land in St James with the intention of building my retirement home there, but when I was told to think of the medical system in Jamaica, I changed my mind.

The people who bought a lot close to me encroached on my lot and my relatives told me it would be better for me to have a lawyer deal with this matter, because if I try to take matters in my own hands, I may get myself killed. So that is why I am in Florida.

I love my country but my life is more important. Love you, Pastor.

Dear B.,

First of all, let me say that you should not give up on your homeland. I could understand how concerned you are about the high crime rate in Jamaica - continue to pray about that.

I am very sorry to learn of the encroachment on your property. I hope that such a matter can be resolved through your lawyer. In the meantime, enjoy Florida, but as long as you can afford to come to Jamaica, do so. My prayers are with you.
