Man chops up his mother’s toilet
A mother and her son ended up in court last Friday, following a dispute which led to the 30-year-old using his cutlass to damage his mother's toilet and and washing machine.
Susan Parker told the court that her son, Marcus Chambers, got into a rage after she used the now popular phrase, 'Hol yuh position, Satan'.
"Mi deh a wash, mi a use di machine. Him come home and start wash at the pipe, suh now mi cya get no wata at the machine, suh mi just tek up wah keg to full up the washing machine. Mi hang out mi clothes and leave three lines for him. But him di deh a cuss, mi continue hang out mi clothes and a laugh, an mi seh: Hol' yuh position, Satan," Parker said.
"Den mi hear him round a di back a chop down every plant mi have, because him know mi love plants. Den him come inna mi house and chop mi toilet, mi washing machine, and mash up mi door," she added.
Pleaded guilty
Chambers pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property in court last Friday. His mother, however, begged the judge for leniency. She said that her toilet cost $8,000, and that Chambers, being unemployed, could not afford to pay her for it. She asked senior parish judge Vaugh Smith to have him offer an apology.
However, Judge Smith gave Chambers a suspended prison sentence of 18 months.
"This is my way of encouraging you to behave yourself, stop the smoking and find a meaningful way to contribute to society. Stay away from the ganja, Sir, it's not helping," the judge said.
