Ganja, ammunition seized in Westmoreland

Detectives attached to the Negril Police Station seized two motor vehicles containing 1,400 pounds of compressed ganja on the Spring Gardens main road on Sunday.

Two men were arrested in connection with the seizure.

Reports are that at about 7:30 p.m., a police team was conducting an anti-narcotics operation along the roadway when they intercepted two motor cars.

A search was conducted and the compressed ganja was found. The drivers of both vehicles were arrested and taken into custody.

The drug has an estimated value of approximately J$5.6 million.

Also in the parish on Sunday, the Frome police recovered 47 assorted rounds of ammunition during operations in Georges Plain.

At about 9:20 p.m., a team of officers conducted an operation in the community when they observed a plastic bag on a section of the road.

A further check was done and 40 .41 magnum cartridges, two 12-gauge cartridges, and one .45 cartridge were taken from the bag.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.
