Yellowman back with a ‘BOM’! - King drops explosive track
Dancehall royalty King Yellowman is back with ' BOM BOM', a fiery new single that explodes with colour, culture, and rhythm. Teaming up with Something D'Lux, a New York-based production duo with a deep respect for Jamaican music, Yellowman delivers a high-energy anthem that bridges the roots of dancehall with its boundless future.
Set for release this Wednesday, BOM BOM is anything but a nostalgia trip - it's a powerful, pulse-pounding declaration that dancehall's king still reigns. Yellowman said it is "a celebration of dancehall culture".
"You haffi move forward, but never forget where you came from," the king said.
The single was recorded at the legendary Harry J Studio in Kingston. For Yellowman, the studio brought not only nostalgia but also comfort, creativity, and deep spiritual energy.
"That studio full of spirit and vibes," he shared. "So much history. It's comfortable like my living room and I am thankful for that studio throughout my career."
The music video, shot on the streets of downtown Kingston, is drenched in colour, old-school swagger, and that unmistakable dancehall energy.
"Kingston always been colourful," said Yellowman. "I hope people watch it and feel joy."
For an artiste who has been setting stages ablaze since the 1980s, Yellowman shows no signs of slowing down. Asked what message he hopes to pass on to the new generation of artistes through this release, his response was simple.
"Every generation has their own voice," he said. "I always want the youth to remember: have fun, say something real, and don't take yourself too serious."
Even after decades in the game, it's the people and the passion that keep him going.
"Sometimes it's in the riddim, sometimes it's the people you are surrounded with," he said. "When Something D'Lux, my brothers from New York, came with respect and a fresh sound, it made the collaboration flow."
