Father murdered at his gate
Two children are now fatherless after 30-year old Revlon Grizzle was shot and killed on Saturday afternoon in front of his house on Hagley Park Road.
Grizzle's wife, Tannoya, says she is now left to pick up the pieces as she struggles to make sense of his senseless killing.
"We live together and he stopped by my workplace to give me lunch, and he also gave me the last money that was in his wallet. He was only left with $50. He walked from my workplace and walked home," she told THE STAR.
According to reports, Grizzle was just metres from his gate when men alighted from a vehicle and attempted to rob him. He was then shot in his chest and abdomen.
Tannoya now says she wonders if the outcome would have been different if he had got home just 20 seconds earlier.
"He was home ... it was right in front of our gate. If it was just 20 seconds more, he could've gone through the gate. When he got the first shot, he ran pass the gate and collapsed," she said.
As if dealing with his death isn't enough, images of him lying outside the home have been sent to her via social media.
"Dem send me a picture of him lying on the ground with his mouth open and that's the only image I can see even now. I'm picturing them just jumping out on him. I'm thinking that I'm going to go in the house and see him a sleep. Me still a wait fi him jump up and seh a joke. Me scream, me holler, me bawl," she said sullenly.
She said that when she saw him last, he had nothing on his person worth stealing. She is left wondering if he was shot because he didn't have what the thieves wanted.
"Him normally leave the phone at home because it doesn't even work properly. I have it here with me now. I have his wallet with the last $50 in it. He had a supermarket bag with chicken and rice and stuff that he would cook Saturday and Sunday for dinner. He didn't have anything for him to resist. I'm sure he would have willing given them his chain."
Tannoya remembers her spouse as an illustrious man.
"He has two kids from previous relationships ... we don't have any kids together. He was a hard worker. Him always seh him nuh wah dead lef him pickney dem, so him wah set the foundation. Even the other day he sent a voice message saying him just haffi push through because we don't have life easy. He had so many plans," she said.
