Busby ‘frustrated’ with document processing for Hinds
With a difficult fixture against England on the horizon, Reggae Girlz head coach Hubert Busby Jr admitted he has been left frustrated with the time it is taking for England-born defender Taylor Hinds' passport documents to be processed to allow her to officially join the team's ranks.
Jamaica will take on England on June 29 at the King Power Stadium in an international friendly.
While announcing his squad for the fixture on Tuesday, Busby said Hinds' passport documents are yet to be finalised which means she has been excluded from his selection.
"Unfortunately, with Taylor Hinds, we're still waiting for the final documentation which needs to come in to allow her to play in Type A friendlies, which is what we're waiting on," Busby explained.
"Yes, from the overall perspective it is frustrating because obviously we want the players to be able to be embedded in, those who have declared and are committed to play. Yes, it's a frustrating process but it is a process that we have to allow to play out."
Hinds, who represented England at the U17 and U18 levels, opted to represent Jamaica at the senior level and made her international debut against France in October last year.
As the match against France was not a Type A friendly, Hinds was able to represent the Reggae Girlz.
As they await the final documentation, Busby and his coaching staff have been playing their roles to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible.
"Obviously, those things are outside of my control, the players and the staff," he said. "The idea is to always control the controllable. So the staff, we do what we can, we do our due diligence, get things in time, follow up and passing the required letters of support or whatever is needed."
WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS
With Hinds out for the upcoming fixture, Busby said the aim is to have her confirmed in time for Jamaica's World Cup qualifying campaign.
The Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers are set to begin in October this year.
The World Championships will serve as the region's qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, where Busby eyes a third consecutive appearance for the national programme.
"What we really want to do is ensure that everything is in place outside of this window heading into qualifiers. I know all the necessary parties and those who are able will do their best to work with PICA (Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency) to make sure we get all those documents in order prior to October."
