Jamaica’s Leon Bailey is contested by El Salvador’s Luis Vasquez Jamaica vs El Salvador World Cup Qualifier at the National Stadium, St Andrew, on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

When Steve McClaren's Reggae Boyz take to the field tomorrow against the British Virgin Islands in World Cup Qualifying action, their sole objective will be to leave with all three points.

Jamaica will face off against the BVI at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground in a Group E Concacaf second-round encounter.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Reggae Boyz boss McClaren said the objective is to win.

Referencing the team's performance in last week's Unity Cup in the United Kingdom, McClaren said, "We want to carry that (form) onto the World Cup Qualifiers and the obvious goal for this is to continue this way of playing and to get better at that.

"The key is to win the two games, without a doubt," he said of the BVI game and their upcoming clash against Guatemala in a matter of days.

After defeating Trinidad and Tobago 3-2, Jamaica had advanced to the final of the Unity Cup. However, they lost in a penalty shootout, following a 2-2 tie with Nigeria.

The Boyz, ranked 63rd in the world, have more experience and star quality and will enter the fixture as heavy favourites. They are ranked 144 places higher than their opponents, who are currently ranked 207th in the world.

The team's chances were further boosted as McClaren added several key names to the squad which had narrowly lost to Nigeria, including the likes of Leon Bailey, Demarai Gray, goalkeeper and captain Andre Blake and first-time call-up Tyreece Campbell.

Tomorrow's match will be the second meeting between the countries. They first met in 1994, and Jamaica trounced the BVI 12-0.

Jamaica currently sit second in Group E on a perfect six points, but lie second in the group to Guatemala, which also have six points but a superior goal difference.

The BVI, on the other hand, sit rooted at the foot of the table without a win in their two World Cup Qualifying matches, and without a goal as well.

In preparation for the contest, the BVI tackled St Vincent and the Grenadines in an international friendly last week where they came out with a 1-1 draw.

Jamaica's clash against the BVI is set to kick off at 2 p.m. Jamaica time.
