Manchester father desperate to get a kidney
Thirty-six-year-old Carlton Wallace was living a very active life until six months ago when he became ill.
A visit to the doctor revealed that both of his kidneys have gone bad. And although he acknowledges that the chances of getting a kidney donation may be slim, he's desperate.
Through tears, Wallace explained the ordeal that he has been going through.
"Right now, mi deh yah cyaa barely breathe, mi always outta breath," he told CENTRAL STAR.
Before his illness, Wallace led a busy life in his community of Comfort Hall in Manchester. He was a bus conductor, chef, and party promoter.
"Mi jus a get pure shortness of breath. Mi cyaa move from yah suh to deh suh. Nuff coughing. I remember the Saturday morning when mi went to the hospital, and mi cyaa even siddung. A lay mi haffi lay down pan some cushion," he said.
The father of one said he has fallen on hard times since he has been unable to work.
"A mi family a help mi out, mi bredda and sista," he said.
And although his family members have been supportive otherwise, none of them has taken the brave decision to give him one of their kidneys.
"My doctor told me that the surgery would be free. I just need the kidney, so if like anyone in Jamaica that have kidneys to donate, or if mi can get it fi buy, I would be so grateful," he said.
