With speculation swirling about the timing of the next general election, some event promoters are on edge, concerned that political tensions could cast a shadow over their events.

But for Reggae Sumfest's head honcho Joe Bogdanovich, it's hardly a worry.

"No, not worried at all. Why would I be worried? We have a real positive festival here and people coming from all over the world this year to see it so what are you gonna do," Bogdanovich told THE STAR.

Set to ignite Montego Bay from July 13 to 19, Reggae Sumfest promises a week of nonstop action - ranging from Family Funday and street parties to high-energy sound clashes - all leading up to the much-anticipated dancehall and reggae showcases at the Catherine Hall Stadium in St James.

Now celebrating its 32nd staging, Sumfest has cemented its place as 'Jamaica's Greatest Reggae Festival.' And according to the DownSound Entertainment CEO, not even the uncertainty of an election season can dim the vibes or derail what's shaping up to be a record-breaking year.

"I think that Reggae Sumfest brings nothing but joy and happiness to the electorates - to all a dem because it's a great [show], it's been 32 years and we always bring a lot of good energy," he said.

General elections are constitutionally due by September but could be pushed as far as December in the event of a national disaster or war. At minimum, 21 days must pass between the election announcement and voting day. This means if Prime Minister Andrew Holness were to call election today, Jamaicans could head to the polls as early as Thursday, July 17.

Still, Bogdanovich isn't paying attention to the calendar, trying to predict the date for the next general election. His focus remains locked on delivering a world-class entertainment experience.

"I am a guy who always try to get people to go beyond politics and try to help one another and how to reach out to one another because it gets kinda crazy with politics in [Jamaica] and other countries," he shared.

He added, "This Reggae Sumfest 2025, is gonna be a week to remember. It's gonna be a week for you to have a lot of fun and create a lot of memories with your friends. There's a lot going on and I just think this one is gonna be very very special and really big."
