Govana gifts mom a car on stage at Reggae Sumfest

As if his world-class performance wasn't enough, dancehall entertainer Govana brought the house down with an unforgettable surprise during his set at Reggae Sumfest -- gifting his mother, Sonia Eccleston, a brand-new Honda CR-V on stage.

"You grow me rough cause a Spanish Town you come from," Govana told his mother as he embraced her on stage.

"A board house we grow up inna. But we never give up, especially when you tell me fi tun it up," he continued.

The emotional moment struck a chord with the audience, who erupted in cheers as the entertainer handed over the keys, making it a performance to remember.

Dressed in a pilot's suit, by Carlton Brown, Govana took Festival Night One to new heights, performing a slew of hit songs. From Breeze to Mawning Sir, the deejay had fans singing along to every word.

Speaking with Kamila McDonald on the Visit Jamaica Live Stream, he shared that his sophomore album, Legacy, had over 60 million streams and that he's currently working on a new album.

He also spoke about his parents, praising his father and mother for the roles they played in his life. "I try to make sure that she (my mom) happy and comfortable, even my dad also because both of them were there," he said. "Dem never live inna di same household, but dem did always present."
