Alkaline camp fires back - Says Champion Boy not inaccessible
Alkaline's camp is firing back with sharp words after the Vendetta star was branded as "inaccessible" by an entertainment journalist.
Rickardo Shuzzr, the artiste's publicist, rejected the claim, calling it "misleading", "reckless".
"Alkaline is not inaccessible!" exclaimed Shuzzr, adding that the way he chooses to engage with the media is "strategic".
"In an industry where everyone tries to show up and show out, Alkaline has chosen a different path. He is more contained, maybe even elusive--but that's not the same as being inaccessible," Shuzzr said of the Champion Bwoy deejay.
According to Shuzzr, since rising to prominence in the mid 2010s, Alkaline and his team have made deliberate decisions to decline certain media invitations--not out of spite or disregard, but as part of a broader strategy to maintain artistic independence and narrative control.
"Alkaline is an independent artiste who refuses to be boxed in by a system that often favours controversy over creativity," Shuzzr explained.
"He has always defined his career on his own terms, and that includes where, when, and how he appears in the media."
The publicist also challenged the portrayal of the artiste as reclusive or detached, pointing out that Alkaline's team has consistently extended media invitations.
"We have consistently made the artiste available for bookings, while balancing the artiste's public and private life demands, his responsibility to the Vendetta fanbase and his overall artistry," Shuzzr said.
He referenced Alkaline's hit single Dutty Badmind as a lyrical clapback to the very forces in the industry he says are driven by ego and envy.
"The song reflects his views on biased media and the people who twist stories for personal gain," Shuzzr said.
"Selective and strategic does not equate to being 'inaccessible'. He doesn't need validation from media personalities who weaponise access. The vendetta family understands what this is."
After a successful staging of New Rules in Toronto, Canada, Alkaline is gearing up to shut down the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium next month.
"Fans can expect pure fireworks from the deejay as he is gearing up for July 5 in Jamaica. Alkaline and friends are ready to deliver a high-energy performance with unmatched access and connection to his fans. The time is now!"
