The Eternal Fathers Awards was all about celebrating real men who step up as fathers, and among the star-studded crowd was reggae artiste Warrior King, who showed up to back the cause and lead by example.

THE WEEKEND STAR caught up with the artiste, born Mark Dyer, who shared that he celebrated Father's Day early with his children, knowing he would be at the awards.

"I celebrated Father's Day yesterday (Saturday, June 14). I went to Dolphin Cove with my children," he said, smiling. "We spent the entire day there and we were the last family to come out of the complex. Then, this morning (Sunday) we had breakfast together and dinner, then I came here to the award show."

Warrior King, a father of five -- three of whom live with him - spoke with heartfelt appreciation for the Eternal Fathers Awards and what it represents.

"This is a wonderful occasion and it should be commended," he said passionately. "The Government needs to get behind this thing because, every year when it's Mother's Day, it's well celebrated all over the world. You have all sorts of discounts for Mother's Day, you have Mother's Day specials from different pharmacies, supermarkets, and so on. But, on Father's Day, everything's quiet. Nobody nuh deh pon di roadside a sell no teddy bear, no gift baskets, or such. So, big up Anna and the Eternal Fathers family. It's wonderful."

The reggae stalwart's words struck a chord in a society where the celebration of fatherhood often takes a back seat. Known for hits like Virtuous Woman, Warrior King has built his career around messages of upliftment, integrity, and love. That same message radiated from him as he shared his own experiences as a father as he performed.

But it's not just fatherhood keeping Warrior King busy these days. He's preparing to embark on a major tour across Asia next week, hitting countries like Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Japan.

"And I just released a new song with Busy Signal called Moonlight--a beautiful track getting a lot of international traction." He also confirmed that a new album is on the way.
