Julian Marley believes that the Bob Marley: One Love movie was a timely piece of additional legacy which serves to redirect persons to the message of reggae music.

In a recent interview with THE STA R, the Lemme Go artiste shared that the Bob Marley: One Love movie helps to spark a new love for reggae and is a reminder to the people about the power of reggae music.

"My father said he came to teach the people dem about Rastafari, and to bring peace and awareness to the people dem through the music. [This movie] rekindles that flame of getting back wi consciousness and wi roots and our heritage.

"My father always seh, 'We Jamaicans a people weh bring certain things to the worl'', but is like wi forgetting that, [because now] is like, a people a bring back things to we. Suh we affi get back our own vibration of that culture, because this shows that righteousness covers the earth and nuh matter what, this message [through reggae] will always be at the forefront," said Julian.

In crediting British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir for seamlessly playing the "difficult" role of Bob Marley "so well", Julian highlights that Ben-Adir was also able to transmit that same "love, energy and vibration" as that of Bob through his portrayal.

"Wi affi big up di actor himself to really, really, really play this [role], because nobody can't play dat man deh. Yuh affi just give it yuh best shot, and he did great. Yuh can feel di energy and inna my mind now, true me know [Bob], mi a watch it and is like, 'Yow, yea, wicked Nats'.

Reflecting on his fruitful year, including winning a Grammy, Julian emphasised the profound significance of the Bob Marley movie's timing.

"I call 2024 a 'mystic time' because everything is happening one time - [from] winning the Grammy to the Bob Marley movie, which I think is bringing attention to the message of what reggae music about," Julian said.

Arguing that people worldwide are drawn to reggae for a reason, Julian said the film serves as a poignant reminder of its power and purpose.

"You have a portion of people around the world listening and is keen to reggae music ... So [the movie] is just directing everybody, again, who play reggae music to remind them what reggae music is about, and to remember how powerful it is," he said.
