Another member of Arnett Gardens FC's coaching staff has moved to Montego Bay United (MBU) Football Club.

In a release yesterday the club said assistant coach Garnett Lawrence has been appointed as Xavier Gilbert's number two. Gilbert, a former Arnett Gardens head coach, was announced as the head coach of MBU earlier this week. Gilbert replaced Paul 'Tegat' Davis.

According to Yoni Epstein, chairman of MBU, the new addition will get the team to where it needs to be.

"Building a championship team starts with the technical team and as we as a club gets better so will they. We have a solid team with coach Dillon Thelwell long-time assistant coach of MBU, goalkeeping coach Loxley Reid and Omar Schoonhoven as strength and conditioning coach. These additions will get us to where we need to be," said Epstein.

In addition, the release stated, "Garnett has consistently demonstrated strong leadership, strategic vision, and a genuine ability to elevate the team he works with. We are excited to have him as a part of our leadership as we pursue excellence in the coming season.

"In his new role, coach Lawrence will assist Gilbert in all aspects of our programme, including player development, game strategy and community engagement. His approach emphasises discipline, unity, and empowering athletes to perform at their best on and off the field."

Lawrence said he was looking forward to working with the players.

"I'm honoured to join Montego Bay United FC and I am looking forward to working with our talented players and dedicated staff. I believe in building a programme grounded in hard work, mutual respect, and pursuit of our goals together," the assistant coach said.

MBU will officially start pre-season training in early July, with the first match of the new Jamaica Premier League season set to kick off on August 24.
