Two illegal guns seized, multiple people detained in St Andrew raid
Two illegal firearms were seized and multiple suspects detained during a series of targeted operations conducted by police and soldiers across the St Andrew North Division on Tuesday.
In the first incident, law enforcement officers recovered a Springfield Armoury Hellcat nine millimetre pistol along with several rounds of ammunition during a search at a premises on Grants Pen Drive in Grants Pen. A man was taken into custody in connection with the seizure.
Later that day, a .22 pistol was found at a property on Manor Drive in Cassava Piece. Another suspect was arrested in relation to that seizure.
The STAR understands that several individuals were also detained during the operations and are currently being processed.
Head of the division, Superintendent Randy Sweeney, said the police are intensifying efforts to rid the area of guns, gangs, and wanted men.
"We are working towards a safer division," Sweeney said. "We continue to urge members of the public to share information that can help us remove illegal weapons from our streets."
Since the start of the year, more than a dozen illegal firearms have been seized in the St Andrew North Division.
Meanwhile, the police are seeking the public's help in locating two men wanted for murder:
1. Carl Sergeant, otherwise called Blackie or Blacks
2. Chevoy Hylton, otherwise called Joey
Both men are from Golden Spring, St Andrew.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the Constant Spring Police at 876-924-1421 or call 119. The suspects are also being urged to turn themselves in immediately.
