Jamaica-born woman accuses husband of rape

Describing her husband as a walking disease, a Jamaica-born, Florida-based woman said she is left wondering if she has been infected with herpes after he raped her earlier this month.

"Marriage or not, no means no and I am encouraging those women who are battered and sexually assaulted by their partners to speak out," said Jane*.

"No female should have to go through this and I hope my story can help someone to speak up and never stay silent. I am telling this story with a heavy heart. I am hurting emotionally, and prior to this, I also have other illnesses that I am battling. This has affected me in ways persons can never understand. I keep praying that I am not infected," she said.

Jane said she got married in 2016 and the relationship flourished for the first few years. However, she stated that her husband became addicted to prostitutes and cheated on her with multiple women.

"One morning, I saw his name on a new medication that I didn't know. I know the meds he takes for diabetes and other illnesses but that one was new. When I googled it, it was something used for herpes and other STDs. I asked him about it and he told me they weren't his, although his name was on it. He even went on to say that the pharmacist must have made a mistake," he said.

Jane said she and her husband are not legally separated but said they have been sleeping in separate bedrooms for more than a year.

"But my daughter recently graduated from nursing school and we had a little get together for her at a location. After we left the restaurant, he offered to take me home but he didn't. Instead he took me to a parking lot and raped me," she said.

"I was under a lot of liquor but I still remembered everything clearly. He barked at me to suck on his nipple then he forced my head down to give him oral sex. He is bigger than me in body and he twisted my arm when I tried to stop him. He then exited the vehicle, went around to my side, and he stood outside, lifted up my skirt and had his way with me. He then said 'That is why I love my freaky wife' and then he took me home," Jane added.

The woman, who is in her 50s, said her husband has been slapped with sexual assault and battery charges and will make a court appearance later this month. In Florida, a spouse can be charged with sexual battery regardless of their marital status.

"He is nasty and disgusting to expose me like that. I have done a rape kit and a lot of other tests. Some persons will say he is my husband and I shouldn't (press charges) but he raped me," she said.
