By day, Tia* is the picture of respectability. She worships at Sunday morning service, attends PTA meetings, and goes on grocery runs for her household.

However, the mask of modesty slips from Thursday to Sunday nights. At 9 p.m. sharp on these days, the house dresses vanish and are replaced by scandalously sheer mesh stockings and stilettos.

By midnight, with dancehall blaring from towering speaker boxes, Tia is waist deep in the bashment scene -- her top half completely bare and her fishnets bursting with $100 bills.

"She quiet, but when yuh see her out deh, yuh haffi look twice," one neighbour whispered.

The 33-year-old mother of two admits to commanding attention on dancefloors and poles.

"Mi dance and take off mi clothes fi my own," said Tia, who describes herself as a devoted caregiver to her children and elderly mother.

The soft-spoken 'mom next door' told THE STAR that her husband is working overseas and he has no idea that she is in the adult entertainment business.

"Mi throw my tithes and mi love God same way because a him protect mi a night time when mi a look it fi mi daughters dem. Everybody has a job and all a we wear heels and stockings sometimes, but is just that mi provide different services from sitting around a computer. Plus, mi make a lot more than the people dem who work in corporate," she said.

Tia's husband is the father of her two daughters. She stated that, although they have been together for a decade, he has never suspected that she was gyrating and stripping for cash. She says her secret remains safe in the ears of her mother and close friends for nine years.

"Mi husband nuh have a clue. This June a go mek nine years since mi start do topless shows, but mi nah dance near mi community," she revealed.

Tia's gigs range from local parties to international events -- anywhere the money flows. She says critics can look down on her all they want, but her job contributes to the economy in ways most wouldn't expect.

""Mi nuh dance inna go-go club, but mi take on the bars and parties dem. A nuff time we dance and bar shelf get empty, and we make di owners dem can go bank the next day. Nuff time a man waah go take up him gun, but, when him memba say gyal a strip round the road, him lock weh him machine," she reasoned.

A night's work starts at $8,000, but Tia often walks away with five or six times that.

"Plenty night mi go home wid $50,000. Every drink a man offer, mi tek di cash instead. Fi dance, a $500 minimum. Nobody nuh touch mi unless dem pay. Touching cost extra," she declared.

Tia's journey into exotic dancing began after working long shifts in a bar and still struggling to feed her kids. Watching dancers rake in more money in a few hours than she made in a week sparked something in her.

"Mi use to deh a bar a work more than 12 hours sometimes and barely coulda feed mi youth dem. Mi start watch di girl who come dance how dem a go home happy. So, after mi have mi kids dem and the man leave, mi decide say a topless ting mi deh. Mi did concern because mi tittie dem did kinda drop, but one a mi sisteren who do it say mi must not watch dat because a slippers she have on her chest. Mi is not a big dancer but mi realise say, once mi take off all a mi clothes money fly from all direction," she said.

When asked if her services go beyond dancing, Tia was quick to shut it down.

"Sell mi body? No sah! Nine years mi a do dis and mi nuh cross dat line," she said firmly.

Still, it's not all glitz and cash. Sore muscles, stingy promoters, and aggressive customers are part of the grind.

"Sometimes promoter a frowns fi pay when dem event no go as expected. More time deh wah blame we say a we never draw the crowd, but sometimes the people dem just nah spend," she said.

There is also the risk of being attacked by jealous girlfriends of patrons who are seeking some fun. For Tia, its part of the game.
