Last February, recording artiste Randy Coombs and entertainer Candy Wow were sitting on a bench on Nine Street, Arnett Gardens, with the latter discussing wedding plans.

As she spoke and flashed a shiny ring, Coombs burst into several fits of laughter and referred to her as his 'real bad bro.' Yesterday, Coombs was sitting on the bench again - smiling brightly and with eyes glowing - with his wife, Canadian Ava Marie Sturn Coombs. He told THE STAR that he has found his soulmate.

"I love her and mi and har a plan to have kids, but we a put some things in place first. When mi first see her, mi wah say summen but mi hold it in likkle more because mi never know what she a medz. Mi deh deh a look pon har good and mi see say she sweet and kind. Mi just brave up and tell har say mi like her. She is very honest and then again she loves to ramp and I am like that as well," said Coombs about Ava Marie.

The couple, who tied the knot on March 4 at a private ceremony in Kingston, cannot keep their hands and lips off each other. According to Ava Marie, she had no clue that she would be sharing the last name with the handsome young man she saw smiling at her more than a year ago. Ava Marie, who is a fitness and boxing coach, said she is no stranger to the island as she often travels to do volunteer work with the Jamaica Boxing Association for the Gloves over Guns Initiative. It was during one of her frequent trips that she locked eyes with Coombs.

"I came across him and man, I tell you he is sweet like mango this one. His smile was what got to me first and he is very charming you know. I was shy at first and I am usually not a shy person but he made me shy. I knew there was something there," she said.

After Coombs gathered the courage to approach her and expressed his fondness of her, the two began chatting regularly. The 34-year-old Ava Marie said she was not shocked when he asked her to become his girlfriend as they shared a strong chemistry. While having a telephone conversation a few months ago, Coombs said he asked Ava Marie to be his wife and she was delighted.

"He told me he could see me as his wife. I am a little bit older than him so I told him I don't feel like I have much time to waste, so whenever I date, I date with the intent to marry, and he said 'I look at you and see you as a wife material,'" she said.

"We are loving each other and the marriage. There is a lot of feedback online and most of it is good and then they are some who are naysayers. The typical argument is that he is doing this to get a green card. My husband is very generous and hard-working. He cares and is very patient. He gets up early in the morning and his family and his community are his priority. He is very humble," Ava Marie added.

The duo have a large following online, and while there is negative criticism, the love birds said they are unbothered.

"There are persons who are saying I use Candy and I am going to do the same thing to Ava. Dem say when mi get weh mi want, mi ago lift up left di girl, and that is not the case. She can tell you that herself. Mi love har. Also mi never use Candy," Coombs said.
